Password guidelines and tips
We strongly recommend that you change your passwords frequently to protect your data.
Passwords must contain all of the following requirements.
- At least eight characters
- A number (0-9)
- A lowercase letter (a-z)
- An uppercase letter (A-Z)
- A special character (for example, p@ssword). The allowed special characters are listed onscreen when you create or update your password.
- Avoid common passwords (such as "password")
- Must not be a previously used password
To create a more secure password, increase the number of characters in addition to using the required characters listed above. You may also consider incorporating the following strategies into your passwords.
- Replace letters with similar-looking characters; for example, replace the number zero (0) with O.
- Replace words with representative characters; for example, replace the word "and" with & or the word "up" with ^.
Do not include any of the following in your passwords.
- any complete word
- your email address
- your user ID
- any part of your name or your company name
- sequential letters or numbers (abc, 123)
- consecutive keyboard strings (aaaaaa1, asdfasdf1)
Do not share your password with anyone.
Do not write down your password.
